The Buffalo Planter utilizes this trusted platform while incorporating a specialized planting system developed in collaboration with Epec and Novelquip Forestry.

One of the key advantages of the system is flexibility. Outside the planting season, the planting equipment can be removed, allowing the machine to return to conventional forwarding duties and helping maximize equipment utilization throughout the year.

Automated Planting for Greater Productivity

The planting system consists of four independent planting units, with two positioned on each side of the machine.

Each unit features:

  • A dedicated tillage head
  • An automated planting head
  • Watering capability
  • Soil compaction functionality

Plant spacing can be adjusted both laterally and along the travel direction to meet site-specific requirements.

Seedlings are supplied through four cassettes capable of carrying up to 960 seedlings per load.

Under typical operating conditions:

  • Up to 750 seedlings per hour can be planted with spot mounding
  • Up to 1,300 seedlings per hour can be planted without tillage

This level of productivity allows forestry operations to regenerate large areas efficiently while maintaining consistent planting quality.

Improved Safety and Operator Comfort

Traditional tree planting can be physically demanding and labour intensive. The Buffalo Planter reduces these challenges through automation.

The entire planting process is controlled by a single operator from the machine cab. Cameras mounted on the planting units provide real-time visibility of ground-level operations, helping ensure planting accuracy and quality.

Digital monitoring and reporting systems also support documentation, productivity tracking and quality control.
